Door open for Tom Cannon to shine under Frank Lampard as Salomon Rondon close to Everton exit
Tom Cannon may have received a big boost to his hopes of cementing his position in the Everton first team.
The 19-year-old striker has been performing well for the Everton Under-21s side and got his name on the scoresheet in the 4-2 defeat against Lincoln City in the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday (13 December).
He is almost certain to make the senior grade, although there are suggestions that Frank Lampard could let him go out on loan to get more exposure.

The second option looks unlikely, as Lampard could now bring him into the senior fold in place of Salomon Rondon who is all set to leave the club in January.
Spanish newspaper Marca reported on 15 December that the Venezuela striker is looking to terminate his deal at the club.
He has struggled for regular game time under Lampard, and he feels he should try elsewhere at the highest level.
The 33-year-old striker is being wanted by clubs in England, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Turkey, and he is definitely moving out of Goodison Park in January.

While Cannon won’t solve Lampard’s problems straightaway, and the Toffees still need to sign a new striker, he can still play a bit-part role and do a decent job.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has just returned to light training and it could take him a while to get back on the football pitch again.
Summer signing Neal Maupay has struggled to make an impact. Cannon could be given the platform to shine, and he must grasp it with both hands.
