Journalist shares update on Everton pursuit of Marcus Thuram in January window

French forward Marcus Thuram has “definitely been touted” around as Everton are in the mix to sign, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The former Bleacher Report journalist shared on Give Me Sport that he’s been told that Thuram, 25, wants a club that are going to be playing European football.

Ignazio Genuardi reported on 11 December that the Toffees are among the Premier League clubs waiting for the Frenchman who is not in hurry to move.

Everton

Thuram has played in four matches for France in the World Cup and has an assist to his name as well. He could end up winning the World Cup as France will take on Argentina in the final.

“I’m not convinced they will be in the conversation for Marcus Thuram because he’s definitely been touted around and they’re trying to gauge what sort of interest there is in him,” said Jones.

“But ultimately, I’m told he wants a club that are going to be playing European football, and I’m not sure that’s something Everton will be able to offer him.”

Get him

Everton must try their best to sign Thuram as he is going to be available for absolutely nothing in the summer.

The Toffees must make every possible effort to get that deal sorted in January. He has got bags of talent and definitely he can be a smart addition.

Thuram has made 15 appearances for Gladbach where he scored 10 goals and provided three assists in the Bundesliga so far. He has also scored three more goals in DFB-Pokal as well, taking his goal tally to 13.

Everton

Known for his fantastic dribbling skills and finishing abilities, the Toffees shouldn’t hesitate to get him on board. At 25, he is about to enter the peak years of his career, and this is the right time to take him on board.

It’s an open secret that Everton are looking to sign a centre-forward in the January window. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled with fitness once again, while summer signing Neal Maupay has fared poorly so far.
