Everton star Dele Alli ordered to study former Besiktas star Mario Gomez in latest revival attempt
Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has implemented special measures to try and help Everton loanee Dele Alli rediscover his form in Turkey.
Alli has seen his career fall off a cliff in recent seasons. The two-time Premier League young player of the year was once viewed as one of the world’s most promising players, but he’s struggled to live up to expectations.
His move to Everton hardly helped him rediscover his form, and Frank Lampard jetted him out to Besiktas on loan hoping that a stint away from England may help.

However, the 26-year-old has still continued to struggle at Besiktas and manager Gunes has decided to give Alli extra attention to try and turn things around.
As per fotoMac, “Senol is aware of the qualities of Dele Alli and [Nathan] Redmond, and his whole aim is to create an environment that will reflect this quality on the field.”
“For this reason, he frequently has one-on-one meetings with both players and gives an example of Mario Gomez’s debut during his time.
“Both English players seem determined to challenge their respective careers. At least they realize they have no other choice.”
Last chance
Alli is running out of chances to prove he can turn things around in his career. He was once the star of the Premier League and England squad, but would now struggle to find any suitors in the top flight.
Despite Everton battling relegation last season, Lampard didn’t trust Alli enough to name him in his starting lineup. He’ll have to have a remarkable second half of the season in Turkey to convince Lampard to have him back at Goodison Park.

It seems Besiktas manager Gunes is doing all he can to try and rejuvenate Alli, with individual video analysis and meetings to try and rediscover his love for the game.
But as mentioned in the report, it’s down to Alli to decide whether or not to listen to Gunes’ advice. At just 26, Alli is facing a huge crossroads in his career, where he’ll either turn things around or continue to sink into irrelevancy.
As things stand, Everton would probably snap Besiktas’ arm off if they offered a permanent deal for Alli at the end of his loan stay. Otherwise, the Toffees could struggle to find him a new home after such a dismal few years in his career.
