Transfer race for Everton striker Salomon Rondon heats up with clubs from five countries in contact

Everton striker Salomon Rondon appears to be a wanted man ahead of the January transfer window with interest in his services heating up.

According to Marca [16 December], clubs from five different countries are now keeping tabs on the Venezuelan and have already sounded him out over a potential move.

The 33-year-old is on the radar of clubs from Spain, England, Italy, Turkey as well as Portugal with him prioritising competing at the highest level.

Get rid

Signing Rondon seemed quite a fruitless decision but Everton football club are used to making these choices many times during a season.

He was signed on a free transfer so there will not be many regrets among the fanbase or the hierarchy and they will make at least something off his sale.

In a way, they can show it as making a profit for a player who’s 33 and way past his best, but he surely would’ve been on decent wages.

He did close to nothing to justify being on the club’s payroll and the sooner he’s out of Goodison Park the better for him.

However, talks of him looking to terminate his contract will not be good news for Everton as then they will not be able to make money from his sale.

It remains to be seen how the Toffees deal with his potential exit, but they would be foolish to terminate his contract given the growing interest in his services and surely one club from the five countries would be willing to pay a transfer fee.
