Sky Sports pundit reacts as Everton line up two vital January signings
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Everton must go after a striker and a second attacker to play off them in the January transfer window, according to Kevin Campbell.
The Toffees have well-documented attacking issues currently, and according to the Liverpool Echo (28 November) Frank Lampard is targeting two players in the new year to remedy that fact.
In that context, former captain and frequent Sky Sports pundit Campbell is in no doubt of the profile the club should be looking at to come out of the window properly strengthened.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “It’s got to be firepower. You’ve got to be looking for that whether the player is a forward who can operate at any one of the striking positions across the front three, that has to be the priority.
“Midfield and defence look ok at the moment. The problem is the firepower, you need people are going to score goals.
“If you’re going to go for a target striker, you need somebody else who can play off him who can score goals.
“So two people coming in who can score goals will be important.”

Everton have attacking quality in the squad but all too often it seems that if Dominic Calvert-Lewin isn’t available or at his best all that ability is negated.
An alternative to the unfortunate number nine has to be the real priority, as his ability in the air and in linking the play around him brings more from his teammates than the likes of Neal Maupay.
And someone to finally replace the invaluable contributions Richarlison made last season is still extremely important this many months after the Brazilian left, to even get the side back to the same attacking potency they had 18 months ago.
