Sky Sports pundit supports Everton in £35million Ismaila Sarr pursuit
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Ismaila Sarr is a “very capable” player and the kind Everton need in order to give themselves a chance this year, says Kevin Campbell.
The Mirror reported on 9 December that the Toffees were prepared to make a £35million move for the Watford attacker after his positive World Cup campaign, where he scored once on the way to a last-16 meeting with England.
Although the price is steep, Sky Sports pundit Campbell thinks Sarr is the kind of player that the club needs to be targeting in January ahead of a crucial second half of the season, having struggled badly to score goals of late.

He exclusively told Goodison News: “I think Ismaila Sarr has been on the lips of a few clubs after Watford were in the Premier League last season, but nobody pulled the trigger.
“He’s a very capable player, a very good player, as he showed at the World Cup.
“He’s a handful and Everton need firepower. If you can bring in players, two or three, who can score goals, then you’ve got a chance.
“Then it can take you away from teams, as opposed from when you can’t score it becomes a dog fight.”

Sarr fits exactly the profile of players that Everton have signed numerous times in recent seasons, in that he plays for Watford and he is arguably overpriced.
But a good World Cup campaign will always boost the value of a player, especially an attacking one, and it is the Toffees problem issue that they are in dire need of help at the most expensive end of the pitch.
The club are likely to need more than one player in during the January window, and they could do worse than Sarr, but whether they can spend that much money and still have enough left over to bring in another quality addition could put paid to the idea, although he is versatile and could provide a goal threat from out wide.
