Jorge Mendes pulls strings behind the scenes as Ruben Vinagre could leave Everton in January

Ruben Vinagre could leave Everton in the January transfer window and Jorge Mendes is pulling the strings from behind the scenes it seems, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese newspaper (25 December, page 12) reports that Mendes, the super agent, ideally wants to find a solution for all parties next summer, but another loan move in January cannot be ruled out.

Vinagre joined Everton on loan from Sporting Lisbon during the summer. So, the Toffees will have to terminate the deal if the defender wants to return to his parent club and then move elsewhere.

Possibly

The Merseyside side club have the option to sign permanently for around £17.6m, but they are unlikely to take that route.

Vinagre has only managed four appearances so far in all competitions, and the Toffees could look to terminate the deal if the left-back wants to join elsewhere.

The defender could not convince the Lisbon side either and selling him to Everton was a way to recover the money they paid for him.

Everton

When he first joined, it appeared that Frank Lampard may have sealed a transfer masterstroke.

Vinagre is a player who is capable of playing as a left-back as also as a left-sided midfielder. He has got Premier League experience as well.

However, he soon found out that it would be really difficult for him to get into the first team ahead of Vitaliy Mykolenko who has been outstanding this season for the Toffees.

The Toffees may have to sign another left-back if he moves on, but definitely, they won’t meet his exit clause.
