Farhad Moshiri could sack Frank Lampard after another Everton defeat
Farhad Moshiri may have other ideas when it comes to Frank Lampard’s future at Everton, according to Daily Mail journalist Adam Shergold.
Writing on the Daily Mail website on 29 December, Shergold said that Lampard, 44, “deserves time to put things right at Everton” after overseeing a 2-1 loss at home against Wolves on Boxing Day.
Even though the Blues are now teetering just above the Premier League’s relegation zone, the Mail reporter suggested it would make no sense in “ripping up and starting again” in regard to the manager’s position.

However, he admits that Toffees owner Moshiri “may well have other ideas”.
From bad to worse
It still baffles us as to why so many fans wanted Lampard in last season.
It wasn’t because he was an outstanding manager as he’d been average at Derby and less-than-average at Chelsea.
It was because fans wanted to feel as though they had some sort of control of what happened at the club in a time when the ownership seems to be doing whatever the hell they want.
We can understand that.
If it was between Vitor Pereira and Lampard, you’d want Lampard.

But it should never have been between those two. It should’ve been between two managers who either had good track records in the Premier League or another top league in Europe or someone emerging who has some fresh ideas they can implement to get the Blues out of a rut.
Lampard’s lasting legacy at Everton, if he was to go any time soon, would be that he helped us avoid a relegation we should never have been in the discussion for and for turning Alex Iwobi into a top-class central midfield.
That’s it, in truth.
He’s probably done better than Pereira would have done and the fact Moshiri hired Lampard instead of Pereira was a win for Evertonians.
It shouldn’t last longer than it needs to though and with relegation still a possibility, a change of manager could be needed at some point.
