Sky Sports pundit not confident in Everton chances with Neal Maupay and Anthony Gordon in attack
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Everton miss Dominic Calvert-Lewin “big time” after his back-ups failed to make their mark against Wolves, according to Kevin Campbell.
Neal Maupay and Anthony Gordon both had opportunities to make a difference to the scoreline on Boxing Day but neither could take advantage as the old attacking issues came back to haunt the Toffees once again.
Sky Sports pundit Campbell doesn’t feel it is reasonable to be relying on the former Brighton forward or the homegrown winger for goals, and is clear that more needs to be added to the squad in attack.

“The problem Everton have is they just don’t have the firepower,” he said, speaking exclusively to Goodison News.
“Maupay’s a decent player but he’s not prolific. Gordon’s learning on the job. So when Calvert-Lewin’s not there they miss him big time.
“Everton just don’t have enough firepower, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Until they address that they’re going to struggle.”

Both should have done better in the 2-1 defeat, and had they taken the chances that came there way then surely the Toffees would have come away with a win.
But even relying on Calvert-Lewin is a risky strategy these days considering his ongoing fitness issues, so new arrivals in January are a must.
This squad has never adequately replaced Richarlison, who was one of the main reasons the club stayed up last season, so with his goals removed points are always going to be hard to come by however well the midfield and defence holds up.
