Mark Lawrenson predicts result of Everton clash v Manchester City
Everton will travel to Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City on Saturday (31 December) in the Premier League looking to avoid their fourth straight defeat.
Mark Lawrenson feels that the Toffees are in a “complete mess” at the moment, and he predicts a 3-0 defeat for Frank Lampard’s side.
The Toffees are heading into this game on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Wolves, while City won 3-1 against Leeds at Elland Road.

“Everton are a complete mess and that last-gasp loss to Wolves won’t have helped,” said Lawrenson to Paddy Power.
“Manchester City looked great again against Leeds and had a very comfortable win with Erling Haaland looking fab. This will be a very comfortable City win. Manchester City 3-0 Everton.”
Tough fight
Usually, it is hard to agree with what Lawrenson says, but in this case, even the staunchest supporters will find it hard to see the Toffees causing an upset here.
The pessimism doesn’t flow because of Everton’s league position (which is of course a factor), but it is due to Frank Lampard’s poor record away from home.
It gives the impression that Everton completely forget to do their basic stuff when they play away from Goodison Park, and it’s painful to watch at times.

The summer signings gave the side a lift at the start of the season, but since then they have been pretty flat, even dire at times.
With just one win in eight league games, the Toffees find themselves in a relegation battle once again, and fans have started to doubt whether Lampard is the right man to take the club forward.
He is under loads of pressure at the moment and could get the sack if the results do not improve quickly.
