Everton transfer update after Frank Lampard talks with Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright
Everton manager Frank Lampard has spoken with Bill Kenwright and Farhad Moshiri ahead of the January transfer window, but there are no “immediate” strikers the club are ready to sign, The Guardian understands.
Following the defeat to Wolves on Boxing Day, the need to strengthen the Toffees’ squad in the New Year was magnified as Everton continue to sleepwalk their way towards the Premier League relegation zone.
Fresh attacking reinforcements are the number one transfer priority due to Everton’s lack of potency in front of goal and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s terrible injury record.

According to The Guardian, the club are yet to pinpoint any specific targets in their hunt for a striker, but there is unity between Lampard and the board.
The report said: “New strikers are a priority for Lampard in the January transfer window but, with none on the immediate horizon.
“The Everton manager spoke to the club owner, Farhad Moshiri, and the chairman, Bill Kenwright, after the Wolves defeat and said: ‘There is a unity and an understanding of what we want to do’.”

Worrying news
The update that Everton don’t yet have any names close to coming through the Goodison Park gates will be a bitter pill to swallow for fans.
After several seasons of overspending on ultimately poor footballers, it seems the board has fallen back into its cocoon as the pivotal January transfer window sets to open.
The Toffees need to be proactive and intelligent over the next month if they wish to claw their way back up the Premier League table, as the current crop of players evidently doesn’t have the quality to win enough football matches to stay up.
Transfer links to Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres gave promising signs, with the 24-year-old the Championship’s top-goalscorer this season, netting 12 goals from 23 appearances.
But with a trip to Manchester City dawning on Saturday (31 December), things could yet go from bad to worse for Lampard, Moshiri and Kenwright before they get set to bring anything fresh into the club.
