Everton are set to be sent crashing down back to reality when they face Brighton at Goodison Park on Tuesday night, says Jeff Stelling.

The Toffees earned a shock 1-1 draw against champions Manchester City in the Premier League on New Years Eve to snap a run of four straight defeats in all competitions.

Now they’ll face off against Brighton to try and build on that momentum, but while making his predictions for Super 6 Sky Sports host Stelling isn’t giving them a positive pick.

Stelling has picked Brighton to come away with a 2-1 win despite their 4-2 home defeat to Arsenal in their last game.

Momentum

Momentum is a crazy thing in football, and Everton fans will be rocking after the performance the team put in against Man City last time out.

Goodison Park was the rock that Everton built their foundation on last season when battling to avoid relegation, and the fans know the effect that their voice and energy can have on their team but also as importantly on the opposition team.

Brighton will be coming in a patch of form that has been hot and cold, and Frank Lampard must set his side up to attack them and try to get maximum points.

It won’t be easy, but these home games are the ones that we must win if we want to move away from the relegation zone and push up the table.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is fit again and Neal Maupay will have something to prove against his former side, so lets prove Stelling wrong and start the new year in the best way possible.
