Everton have looked at signing Aston Villa striker Danny Ings in January – talkSPORT

Everton have looked at signing Aston Villa striker Danny Ings in January to boost their attack, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

The Toffees are desperate to sign a new forward to help their bid for goals, having netted just 14 goals in 18 games so far this season in the Premier League.

The club are said to be looking at all sorts of options, and speaking on the White & Jordan show live on talkSPORT (4 January, 10:18), Crook revealed Ings is someone they have looked at although he’s not convinced the player is interested in the move.

“I think they have looked at it, them and Wolves as well,” he said.

“But is Everton an attractive proposition for Danny Ings, particularly with his Liverpool connection? Does he really want to join a team in a relegation battle?

“But the teams we’re talking about are the ones down the table, but I’m not convinced that Everton would be his first choice destination.”

Ideal

Ings would be the ideal type of signing for Everton and what they need right now, because he is a brilliant goalscorer with a great Premier League record.

According to the Premier League website Ings has 67 goals in 186 games in the top flight, which is a fine record considering the teams he has played for.

He’s recently lost his place in the Aston Villa side to Ollie Watkins and as a 30-year-old he wants to be playing regularly, which is something that would be almost guaranteed at Goodison Park.

His Liverpool connection isn’t ideal obviously, but we all love Conor Coady and we know his history with them while Ings hardly did much for them as a player.

If there is a chance to get this deal done then the board and Lampard should be all over it, and even better if they can get it done on loan.
