Ian Wright calls out Farhad Moshiri after Everton suffer heavy Premier League defeat v Brighton

Ian Wright has called on Everton owner Farhad Moshiri to come out and talk after Brighton enjoyed a 4-1 rout on 3 January in the Premier League.

The result put further pressure on Frank Lampard who now appears to be on the brink at Goodison Park.

They’re now in 16th place but could end up in the relegation zone after the gameweek should results elsewhere go against them.

Everton

Wright said on Premier League Productions’ post-match show (3 January, 22:32), “We’ve not heard from Moshiri for a long time. He needs to come out and explain this. It seems like it’s going nowhere. It seems very fragile. They’ve had eight managers in nine years. Surely that’s not the problem.”

Spot on

Moshiri is seeing all of this happening under his reign and is doing nothing to make a conscious effort to turn things around.

He may have spent a good amount of money, but the money has not been spent in the right places and it’s pretty evident, looking at the state of this squad.

The sooner a takeover happens, the better it will be for the Toffees as they’ll get rid of Moshiri and hopefully, someone more competent walks through the door.

The sporting structure is also not what it should be and clubs in the Premier League have proven that money is not necessary to be a well-run club.

The likes of Brighton and Brentford are one of the most economical clubs in the division, but they’re managing to punch above their weight due to their impeccable recruitment and structure.

Everton fans surely will want something like that at Goodison Park, but as of now, they’re a million miles away from that being a reality.
