Watford want to re-sign Abdoulaye Doucoure on loan amid stalled Everton exit
Watford want to re-sign Abdoulaye Doucoure on loan as the midfielder’s Everton future remains in doubt, according to 90min.
The Evening Standard (3 January) suggest Fulham are interested in the 30-year-old but are unwilling to match his £120,00-a-week wage.
90min have since suggested (3 January) that the West London club are only willing to cover half of his current salary.

Watford are understood to be eyeing up a loan offer for the Mali international, with an obligatory purchase clause inserted into the deal should they gain promotion back to the Premier League (90min).
Interesting
Allowing Doucoure to leave on loan could be a good option for Everton as it could make space for Frank Lampard to add to his squad. However, if Watford did take the 30-year-old on a temporary basis, the Toffees would likely be covering most of his wage.
The midfielder is the perfect example of a player who is on a wage which is far too high compared to the output he offers the club. He’s an experienced head, but moving him on does seem like something which could suit all parties. He’s at an age where he will want to be playing regularly and not making the odd fleeting substitute appearance.

It will be interesting to see if Fulham do agree to meet his wage demands after their impressive start to the Premier League season. There’s a chance for the West London club to cement themselves as a midtable side after promotion from the Championship and adding an experienced head like Dourcoure could be vital.
