Everton move out of race to sign Danny Ings after Aston Villa reject loan deal
Everton have dropped out race to sign Aston Villa striker Danny Ings, according to Sky Sports.
The Toffees made a loan offer to sign the 30-year-old striker, but it was rejected immediately. Villa are only looking to sell him permanently.
Via Transfer centre (5 January, 09:42 am), Sky Sports has shared an update that the Toffees will not make any further enquiry about signing the player.

Hint about Lampard’s future?
The Toffees desperately need to sign a striker in the January window, and Ings would have been a smart addition.
He is a natural goal scorer and has got loads of experience in the Premier League. At 30, he still has got a lot of football left in him.
Ings has a contract at Villa Park until 2024, and Everton would be required to pay a fee to sign him. Considering the fact, how badly the club need to sign a striker, it comes as a surprise that they have given up on the chase already.

Or, could this be a hint regarding Frank Lampard’s future?
Lampard is under extreme pressure at the moment after the Toffees suffered a 4-1 defeat against Brighton in the league on Tuesday (3 January).
His job is safe for now, but another poor performance against Manchester United could spell the end of his tenure.
Possibly, the Toffees board want to wait and see how Lampard fares in the next two games, before moving after any new player.
