Alex Iwobi sends message to Dominic Calvert-Lewin after he makes 200 Everton appearances

Alex Iwobi has sent a one-word message to Dominic Calvert-Lewin who made his 200th appearance for Everton during their 3-1 FA Cup defeat on Friday (6 January).

Calvert-Lewin came on as a substitute for Neal Maupay during the game in the 69th minute against Manchester United as the Toffees bowed out of the competition.

The Toffees are yet to win a game in their last eight appearances in all competitions, and Frank Lampard is under tremendous pressure at the moment.

“I am proud to have played 200 games for my club. There are many more important ones to come in the next few weeks and months,” wrote Calvert-Lewin on Instagram.

Iwobi responded: “Big”.

Well done

This is indeed a brilliant achievement from Calvert-Lewin.

The Toffees striker should have reached that figure a lot earlier but he has missed a large number of games in the last 18 months due to injuries.

In fact, he has struggled badly with injury problems this season as well, and has only returned to action recently.

Lampard will be pinning his hopes on Calvert-Lewin in the coming matches as his job is on the line.

Everton

Everton have dropped into the relegation zone after a poor run of form, and Lampard needs all his key players, including Calvert-Lewin to fire.

Maupay was given the chance to shine against United but he has cut a frustrating figure once again that makes you wonder why the club spent £15m [BBC Sport] for him in the summer.

Everton will face Southampton and West Ham in their next two games, and they have to win those. If they fail to pick up anything from those games, Lampard probably won’t stay in his role.
