Everton insider reveal bid to hire Ange Postecoglou as Celtic exit stance emerges
Everton are believed to be admirers of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as the pressure continues to mount on Frank Lampard, according to newspaper journalist, Alan Nixon.
The 44-year-old has been under fire of late with The Guardian suggesting (4 January) Lampard is “on the brink” of being sacked.
Everton suffered another defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Friday (6 January) and it’s understood the board are impressed by Postecoglou and the job he has done at Celtic.

Nixon wrote (personal Patreon account, 8 January): “Everton insiders reveal that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is admired but the hard part may be persuading him to come to England at this point.”
Interesting
If Lampard was relieved of his duties then Postecoglou is certainly a manager who would have the mental strength to deal with the pressure of managing Everton. Celtic are a huge club and have lofty expectations, which the Australian has dealt with well.
Furthermore, he plays an attractive style play which could be conducive to long-term success. One concern would be whether an attacking and expansive style of play is what Everton need right now. At present, the Toffees have been impressive when they sit back and look to hit teams on the counterattack.

Considering the immediate need for points on the board due to their league position, a more pragmatic manager such as Sean Dyche would be a smart appointment by the board if they did decide to sack Lampard.
The next two fixtures against Southampton and West Ham do feel like must-win games if the former Chelsea boss wants to keep his job at Goodison Park.
