Lewis Dobbin sends message to Tom Cannon after Everton loan exit confirmed

Lewis Dobbin has sent a message to Tom Cannon after the Everton striker sealed a loan exit to Preston North End on Tuesday (10 January), as confirmed by the club.

The 20-year-old shared a picture of him signing his contract for Preston on Instagram, adding that he is “delighted” to have joined the Championship side.

Lewis Dobbin, who is currently playing for Derby County on loan, has responded to his post and shared a brilliant two-word message.

“Delighted to sign for Preston North End until the end of the season,” wrote Cannon.

“Let’s go,” responded Dobbin.

Good move?

The move has come as a big surprise to the fans.

Cannon has been in outstanding form for the club at the academy level and he has even played for the senior side.

The Toffees badly need depth upfront and while Cannon wouldn’t have been the solution, he could have still made some impact from the bench.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has just returned to action after recovering fully, while Neal Maupay has badly struggled since joining the club in the summer.

Everton will be looking to sign a new striker this month, and let’s hope they can get someone who can make an instant impact.

Cannon is a bright young talent and the loan move could be productive for him. Ellis Simms enjoyed a fantastic loan spell at Sunderland and let’s hope Cannon can do the same for Preston.

If he can get regular games, and score a few goals, it will boost his confidence, which is exactly why the club has sent him away for the rest of the season.
