Foot Mercato reported (8 January) that Everton had made a £17million bid for the attacker, with negotiations currently ongoing.
90min have since suggested (10 January) the Ligue 1 club have accepted it will soon become “impossible” to prevent his exit, with his current deal in its final 18 months.

Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Leicester and Southampton have also all held talks with the attacker in recent weeks.

Younger players such as Ouattara have been rarely targetted by the Toffees the 20-year-old forward could go on to be a saleable asset for Everton should he make the move the Goodison Park. Richarlison proved to be an excellent addition for Everton but he still cost them a considerable amount of money. It’s up to the board, Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard to find these gems before they become hot property.

At present, it does feel as if this transfer may be quite hard to pull off, with there being considerable interest from the Premier League. The likes of Crystal Palace and Leicester often do well in the market, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see either club land the Lorient striker.
With Lampard’s job under considerable threat, it remains to be seen whether the board will back the former Chelsea manager over the coming weeks.
