Everton weigh up all option as talks at ‘tentative stage’ held for Arnaut Danjuma

Everton are weighing up all options as they have held talks for Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma, as reported by the Daily Mail (10 January).

Talks are being held at a “tentative stage” as the Toffees have also checked on Lorient pair Terem Meffi and Dango Ouattarra this month.

The Toffees are operating on a tight budget, but Frank Lampard really needs to add one or two quality attackers to boost their survival hopes.

Loan possibly

The former Bournemouth forward is a versatile player who can also operate on the left flank.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a terrific 2021-22 season with the Yellow Submarines where he managed 10 goals and three assists in 23 games in La Liga.

However, his performances have dropped considerably this season, as he managed two goals in 10 appearances so far.

The Toffees can only look to sign him on loan, as they probably won’t be able to come up with a double-digit transfer fee in January.

According to Sky Sports [transfer centre, 10 January, 18:59), Nottingham Forest are also keen to sign Danjuma, and the Toffees could face strong competition for his signature.

The club desperately need to sign a forward in January. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been facing problems with injuries, while Neal Maupay has cut a frustrating figure.

At the same time, the Toffees also need depth in the wing areas. Danjuma looks like an ideal fit for the club, but whether they can get him remains to be seen.
