Everton ready to sell Tom Davies in January – Sky Sports journalist
Everton are ready to sell midfielder Tom Davies in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.
Scottish giants Rangers are interested in signing him but they are yet to solidify their approach with a concrete offer on the table [4th Official, 9 January].
Davies, who has come up through the youth ranks at the club, has made 169 appearances for the Toffees, scoring seven goals.

He has only six months left on his current deal at the club, and there’s “no point” in sending him out on loan.
“They want to sell fringe players rather than loan them,” said Dorsett on Sky Sports (11 January) as relayed by live blog (7.45, 1:19).
“Tom Davies – again, Everton would be prepared to sell him. He’s only got six months left on his current deal, but they want money; they want cash – no point in giving him a loan deal.”
Sad ending
Davies was considered one of the promising talents at the club when he first burst onto the scene.
However, in recent years, his growth has been hampered. Frequent changes of manager haven’t been ideal for his development, while injuries also played a part in his lack of overall involvement as he would have liked.
Under Frank Lampard, he has failed to make a huge impact, and a move away from the club looks more likely.
The midfield is one area that needs bolstering. They are lacking in depth in that department and unless they sign a replacement, the club should hold on to Davies.

Even if he leaves now, Everton are expected to receive a minimal fee only, given his contract situation.
Davies is a stylish midfielder who is always eager to make forward passes. His best years are ahead of him, but he really needs to stay fit.
Rangers are a massive club who have got a huge fan base. They can offer him European football. He could be a great signing for them but first they need to come up with an offer.
