Everton seriously consider move for Lille forward Timothy Weah in January
Everton are “seriously” checking the profile of Lille forward Timothy Weah in the January transfer window, according to a report from L’Equipe.
The 22-year-old striker scored for the USA national team in the World Cup against Wolves which sparked the attention of several foreign clubs, including the Toffees.
He has had a contrasting season where he had a foot injury at the start of the season which has limited his playing time. Weah has a contract at the club until 2024, and he is valued at around £13.3m.

L’Equipe add that Everton face competition to sign “eccentric striker” Weah with Fulham, Brighton and Sevilla also keen.
Striker needed
Weah has managed only three starts in the Ligue 1 and a further six appearances have come from the bench.
He is a talented striker, no doubt, but has faced problems at Lille this season. He would probably jump at the opportunity to leave the club, but the Toffees will have to be careful here.
It is not always a good idea to sign a player based on his performance in a single tournament. But there is a desperation to sign a new striker and the Toffees are considering several options at the moment.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has recently returned from injuries while Neal Maupay has proved to be a major flop. The club need to be very careful with Calvert-Lewin as another injury blow would be a massive catastrophe for them.
Another thing to consider here is the financial side. Everton are operating on a tight budget, and the club are mostly looking at loan signings.
Unless Lille allow him to leave on loan, it looks difficult that the Toffees will splash over £13m for Weah’s signature.
