Everton want to sign Brazilian winger Tete, player open to January move

Everton are showing keen interest in signing Brazilian forward Tete in the January window, according to journalist Alex Crook.

Writing for talkSPORT, Crook reports that the Toffees could face competition from the likes of Nottingham Forest and Wolves for his signature.

The 22-year-old wide-forward is technically a Shakhtar Donetsk player but he spent his last six months on loan at Lyon due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He is open to leaving the club in January.

Players needed

The Brazilian winger joined Shakhtar in 2018 after spending his youth career at Gremio.

His records for the Ukrainian club are enviable, where he managed 31 goals in 108 games.

He has won two major Ukrainian Premier League titles and did well in France as well.

Tete has scored six goals in 16 games this season, and looks like a cracking talent. In total, he has scored 39 career goals so far.

Frank Lampard needs to bolster his attacking ranks in January, and adding a winger is a priority.

The Toffees are heavily reliant on Demarai Gray and Anthony Gordon, but they need more quality in wide areas.

Moreover, both Gray and Gordon are not great finishers, and as a result, the Toffees struggle to score goals.

Tete appears to be someone who can score freely, and in theory, should be a smart signing for the club.

It’s unlikely that Tete will be allowed to leave on loan, and the Toffees will have to sign him permanently. His contract expires at the end of the season, so Everton can get him at a bargain price.
