Everton could send Ellis Simms back to Sunderland after Tony Mowbray reveal

Everton striker Ellis Simms could be heading back to Sunderland on loan yet again, according to a report from The Mirror (13 January, page 54).

Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray has hinted that the 22-year-old striker could return back to Wearside on loan this month.

Simms enjoyed a successful loan stint, scoring seven goals in 17 games for Sunderland, but he was recalled two weeks ago by the club. Since then, he has managed just seven minutes of game time.

“Everton are keeping him – or he’s coming back, ” said Mowbray, as quoted by The Mirror.

Makes no sense

It doesn’t make sense at all if Simms is allowed to return to Sunderland to go out on loan again.

It shows a lack of planning and clear vision from the club.

The young striker was enjoying a good spell with Sunderland and surely the Toffees must want to use him, otherwise, there was no need to call him back.

The Toffees are looking to bolster their forward department this summer, and Frank Lampard could land one or two players.

Everton

In case, they manage to do it, then Simms will drop down the pecking order.

There was no point actually to call him back from a fruitful loan spell. He was getting regular games and was contributing to the team.

Lampard doesn’t know how to use him, and bringing him for the last few minutes in every game won’t boost his confidence.

It’s unclear at the moment what the Toffees will do with him. Ideally, he should continue his loan spell at Sunderland, and the entire situation reeks of poor management.
