Everton transfer news as Danny Ings update emerges on Saturday

Everton will have to decide whether they will come up with a firm offer to sign Danny Ings, as Wolves join the race to sign the Aston Villa striker in January, according to The Mirror.

The Toffees have had a loan enquiry rebuffed by Villa who are only willing to sell the striker permanently.

The 30-year-old striker has started only once in the last seven games under the new boss, Unai Emery, who could allow Ings to move on if Villa sign a replacement.

The injury to Ollie Watkins could change his plans, though. Ings is an experienced player who has made 350 appearances in all competitions in his club career and has 122 goals to his name.

Difficult

At this moment, there is hardly anything to get optimistic about the club.

The Toffees are 18th in the league table and they need reinforcements. However, they are yet to sign a player in the January window, and the club are operating on a tight budget.

It’s an open secret that Everton need a striker this month. It will be too risky to pin hopes on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, considering his injury records in the last 18 months.

Neal Maupay has cut a frustrating figure since joining from Brighton, and Frank Lampard doesn’t seem to trust him either.

A new striker is needed who can make an immediate impact. But what is stopping the club from getting deals done? Possibly money.

The Toffees have been linked with players like Arnaut Danjuma and Timothy Weah, and tons of other players this month, but nothing concrete has come out.

Ings has got loads of Premier League experience and he could be a handy addition. He still has got a few quality years left in him, but doubts remain about whether the Toffees will try for him again after the loan bid was rejected.
