Farhad Moshiri spokesperson reacts to fresh Alisher Usmanov allegations at Everton
Several football managers have raised fresh concerns over the ownership of Everton, after claiming they were interviewed for the managerial position with Alisher Usmanov present, according to The Guardian.
Usmanov is understood to have attended several meetings with managers, dating from Moshiri’s appointment as the club’s majority shareholder in 2016 right until his sanctions in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Guardian’s sources claim such meetings led to managers believing that the Russian oligarch actually owned the Toffees rather than Moshiri. However, a spokesperson for the Everton owner has rejected such claims.

It’s worth noting that Lampard, upon being appointed as Toffees’ boss, revealed [1 March] that Usmanov was indeed present at his interview for the top job, and asked one question in regard to his suitability for the role
Speaking to The Guardian [15 January] in response to those claims, the spokesperson said: “Mr Usmanov has never interviewed or been present during an interview.”
Fresh doubts
These allegations have certainly thrown Moshiri’s ability as the owner of Everton in fresh doubt once again. How many more farcical stories can the Toffees faithful take in regard to Moshiri’s lack of care for the club?
If such allegations are indeed true, then Moshiri’s ability and reputation as a business owner has got to be called into question. The fact that he used Usmanov in interviews certainly shows that he doesn’t have the bottle to make the tough decisions in regard to the club.

It is evidently clear that the trust in him and the Everton owners have completely disintegrated. And it’s partly because of stories such as these.
And it is no wonder why there is so much negativity and unrest at Goodison Park as fans have grown tired of Moshiri’s lack of activity and most of all, the lack of communication and transparency that a club owner should be providing to their fans without question.
