Everton face ‘big 48 hours’ with Arnaut Danjuma set to return to UK for talks

Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam has revealed a “big 48 hours” are in store when it comes to Arnaut Danjuma’s next move with Everton looking to land the Villarreal attacker.

Sky Sports (transfer live blog, 17 January, 01:46pm) revealed the 25-year-old is set to return to England on Wednesday to hold further talks, with Everton, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest keen.

However, it’s understood further interest in the attacker has now emerged after the La Lige side granted Danjuma permission to talk to the Premier League trio.

“Arnaut Danjuma will return to England tomorrow to hold more talks with clubs over a loan move from Villarreal,” wrote McAdam (via Twitter, 17 January).

“Everton, Bournemouth & Forest are keen on him. However, Villarreal granting Arnaut permission to speak has generated further interest in him. Big 48 hours ahead.”

Crunch time

This is a deal which feels like it’s reaching its climax. There are clearly a number of sides vying for the 25-year-old and he would certainly add some much-needed quality to Everton’s front line.

Everyone surrounding the club needs a boost and an impressive piece of transfer business could certainly ease some of the pressure on the board and would also help Frank Lampard in his bid to keep his side in the Premier League.

Danjuma scored 16 goals and registered four assists in the 2021/22 season and was a large part of Villarreal’s impressive run in Europe. He’s a player who knows the Premier League would be ready-made to make an impact should he complete a move back to England.

Sadly, Everton are in a dire state at the moment and it will be a huge achievement from the board and Lampard should they be able to convince the attacker to move to Goodison Park.
