Maciek Kaminski steps back from talks with Farhad Moshiri over Everton takeover and investment

Everton have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of investment or a takeover after Maciek Kaminski stepped back from talks with Farhad Moshiri.

Moshiri had been hoping to sell a stake in the club to help with investment after losing the funding of Alisher Usmanov in 2022 due to his ties to Russia.

But despite holding talks in the summer and for much of the second half of 2022, reliable Telegraph journalist Matt Law says there has been no contact since before the World Cup in November and interest has now cooled.

“He (Kaminski) remained in talks with majority shareholder Moshiri over the prospect of taking full control or investing heavily into the club, but it is understood there has been no contact between the pair since the World Cup,” he wrote (16 January).

“But interest in Everton now appears to have cooled with Kaminski not holding any talks with Moshiri since before the World Cup and little sign currently of negotiations being rekindled.”

Nightmare

Kaminski was the great hope for many, with the belief that he was still in talks about buying a big stake or a completing a full takeover to get Moshiri out.

But as we had already experienced and heard, Moshiri wasn’t particularly interested for whatever reason and now the option seems to have faded away.

Everton

Anyone who wants to come in now and help fund the stadium and help the squad be stronger and keep us in the Premier League will have to start their talks from scratch.

With the situation with the board, owner and fans at an all-time low, with frustrations high and boiling over to off the pitch concerns, a takeover involving Kaminski was a great chance for everyone to make a swift parting of ways.

That’s now gone and Moshiri looks like he’ll be going absolutely nowhere anytime soon, meaning this is going to get worse before it gets better.
