Southampton in talks to sign Everton January target Nicolas Jackson
Southampton are in talks to sign Villarreal attacker Nicolas Jackson, while Everton and Aston Villa are also keen, as reported by 90min.
The Saints are in talks over a £20m deal for the 21-year-old has been a “valuable” rotation option for the Spanish club so far this season.
Sky Sports report on 17 January (transfer live blog, 01:46 pm) that the Toffees are also keen to sign Villareal’s Arnaut Danjuma. In such a scenario, a deal for either Jackson or Danjuma could get complicated as Villarreal won’t be happy to lose both of their players this month.

No chance
While the Toffees retain an interest in Jackson, there is little chance to sign the striker in January.
Even if Villarreal are willing to offload both Danjuma and Jackson, it looks difficult for the Toffees to strike a deal for both.
The finance is a major issue for the Toffees, and they are unlikely to match Southampton’s offer.
Everton are mostly interested in signing players on loans and Danjuma remains the best option for them. He has been given permission by the club to speak to Premier League clubs, and he will make a decision on his future shortly.

The Toffees do need depth in their forward department. Dominic Calvert-Lewin needs support and the club must use him wisely as well, as he has just returned from a long injury lay-off.
Neal Maupay has badly struggled since joining in the summer from Brighton and proving to be a big flop at the club.
Jackson has scored two goals and two assists in eight starts for Villarreal, but Everton are most likely to miss out on him.
