Everton midfielder Tyler Onyango recalled from loan at Burton Albion

Everton midfielder Tyler Onyango has returned to Goodison Park after his loan deal at Burton Albion is cut short, the League One club have confirmed.

The 19-year-old midfielder is one of the promising young talents at the club, and he has already made three Premier League appearances.

He made 21 appearances in all competitions for Burton, but the Toffees have decided to bring him back.

“Defender Adrian Mariappa and on-loan Everton midfielder Tyler Onyango have left Burton Albion. Everyone at the club would like to wish both players all the best for the future and would like to thank them for their service,” Burton Albion tweeted on 18 January.

Doesn’t make sense

Some of Everton’s handling of loan deals have been really baffling.

Onyango is a highly-rated young talent, and it doesn’t make any sense to bring him back to the club.

He has a contract at Goodison Park until 2025, and there was no need to cut his loan spell.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has featured regularly for the League One side this season.

Everton

It’s highly improbable that Frank Lampard will use him for the senior team, although the Toffees need depth in the middle of the park.

We have seen a similar situation with Ellis Simms. The striker was enjoying a terrific loan spell at Sunderland where he was playing regularly and scoring goals.

However, his loan spell was cut short, and Lampard now cannot use him in the first team.

He is wasting his time on the bench. Let’s hope the Toffees send Onyango to loan elsewhere as that is what he needs at the moment.
