£3m update emerges in Everton approach to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele
Everton have approached Lyon with an enquiry about signing striker Moussa Dembele, according to a report from Scottish Daily Mail (20 January, page 73).
Premier League rivals Aston Villa have also enquired about signing the Lyon striker, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old ex-Celtic ace is unlikely to sign a new deal at the French club, and it is understood that he is available for just £3m.

Proven goalscorer
Dembele is an experienced striker who has previously played in England for Fulham.
He enjoyed his best spell in Celtic where he managed 51 goals in 94 games for the Scottish giants.
He did well for Lyon scoring 44 goals in the opening two seasons. In 2021-22, he managed 22 goals in 36 games.
This season has been really disappointing for him. He has managed only six starts in the league, and has two goals to his name.

With his contract expiring in the summer, it makes sense for Everton to make a move for him.
He is a proven goalscorer. At that price, getting a player of his quality makes sense.
Dembele is at the age of his career where he will soon enter his peak years, and Everton should look to utilise that.
The Toffees are badly struggling upfront and need to sign one or two strikers in January. Dembele would be a smart addition if they can pull off the deal.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injuries this season while Neal Maupay has proved to be a flop signing for the club.
Everton are 19th in the league table at the moment, and Lampard needs to make a few quality signings to boost the club’s survival hopes.
