Everton in hunt to sign Hakim Ziyech on loan from Chelsea as Sunday development emerges

Everton are in the hunt to sign Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech with a loan deal on the cards, according to Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday afternoon, Mokbel reported that Ziyech, 29, is wanted by a number of clubs having struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge this season.

It is understood that Everton are particularly interested in the former Ajax attacker with an “initial loan” deal on the cards before the January transfer window closes

Risky

Ziyech has pretty much struggled in the Premier League since joining Chelsea from Ajax in 2020.

He’s played 56 times in England’s top-flight and despite being at one of the strongest teams in the country, he’s managed just six goals and seven assists in those games.

This season, Ziyech has played 15 times in all competitions and just 10 times in the Premier League, with the majority of them being as a substitute.

It’s hard to predict him to hit the ground running at Everton should he make a move to Goodison Park.

But the biggest question has to be whether or not he’d actually want to come.

Everton Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard looks to be on the verge of losing his job so you can forget about any connection with Chelsea on that front.

Lampard was a big fan of him while in charge at Chelsea. As quoted by Sky Sports in October 2020, the ex-Stamford Bridge boss said: “It’s a long time and he’s worked so hard. He’s been fantastic in terms of his professionalism to get fit and looks really good in training.

“Just game minutes is what we need now but yes of course I’m excited to get him in and around it and to bring what we brought him to the club for, which is the opportunity to create chances for us, to be the talented player that he is.”

Also, the Toffees are 19th in the Premier League table with just goal difference being the difference between them and sitting bottom instead of Southampton.

Ziyech won’t swap Champions League football for a relegation battle, surely.

Unless money talks, we doubt this will happen but Chelsea do need to offload players because they’re signing new wide-men at a ridiculous rate.
