Everton want to sign Hakim Ziyech in late-January loan-to-buy deal

Everton are already looking to complete their second signing of the January window, with the Blues interested in a loan deal for Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech this month, according to the Daily Mail.

The Toffees reached a full agreement on Saturday night [21 January] to sign Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

And boss Frank Lampard isn’t stopping there in trying to bolster his attacking quality, with the club interested in taking the Moroccan international Ziyech on loan from Chelsea, according to Sami Mokbel [22 January].

And according to the Daily Mail [22 January], the Toffees are one of a number of suitors interested in releasing Ziyech from his nightmare at Stamford Bridge, with AS Roma also in the frame.

However, the Blues are unsure as to whether they want to let him go this month, and it’s uncertain whether the player will be interested in a move to a relegation-threatened team.

Lampard is said to be a huge fan of the player, having played a key role in signing him from Ajax in 2020.

Great move, but unlikely

With the Toffees in desperate need of some quality and creativity to bolster their attacking ranks this month, Ziyech would indeed be a great move for Lampard and a signing which could boost the whole squad.

Lampard knows the player well from their time at Chelsea, and Ziyech’s undoubted and unique qualities in the final third would provide the Blues with the goals they need to avoid a relegation dogfight.

However, considering the club’s plight in the Premier League table, it is highly unlikely Ziyech would choose to move to Goodison Park. How Lampard will plan to convince him is another matter entirely.

But, with Danjuma arriving soon, the pull remains strong from the former Chelsea boss so a move for the Moroccan cannot be ruled as impossible.

Ziyech needs starting opportunities and the significant level at which he can operate compared to Lampard’s current attacking options means he’d be guaranteed the game time he craves.
