Marcelino in running as Frank Lampard replacement news emerges at Everton

Everton are ready to sack Frank Lampard as their manager, and they are already in the process of lining up replacements, according to a report from 90min.

The Toffees are considering options with Sean Dyche, Wayne Rooney, Duncan Ferguson, Nuno Espirito Santo and former Valencia boss Marcelino among the candidates to take over.

Marcelino has previously managed Atheltic Bilbao among many other La Liga clubs but the Spaniard is currently out of work. However, the Toffees are still considering all of the options available to them.

Options

After Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against West Ham, it became very clear that Everton will take a decision on Lampard, as this cannot go on forever.

The Toffees are without a win in their last ten games. They are winless in their last eight Premier League games, losing six of them.

The club are lying 19th in the league table, and Lampard doesn’t seem to have any idea how to lift the side.

While replacing managers every year is not a healthy sign, in this case, the Toffees need to get rid of Lampard who looks totally out of depth.

Dyche did a great job at Burnley but he has now spent nine months out of the game. Rooney can be a good option.  He is a former player who can unite the club once again, but he is new to management.

Ferguson is a hero at Goodison Park and did well as a caretaker manager in the past. Spirito Santo was previously wanted by the Toffees, and he is now being employed by the Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.

This is certainly one to watch.
