Everton move on the cards to sign Watford forward Joao Pedro, he’s in-demand in Premier League
Everton could turn to Watford striker Joao Pedro as the Toffees look to bolster their attacking options, according to The Telegraph.
33-year-old Bologna forward Marko Arnautovic has been earmarked as a potential “emergency” signing, if Anthony Gordon completes his move to Newcastle United (The Telegraph, 25 January).
However, Pedro’s name has also been mentioned as an alternative to the Austrian striker, although a move looks unlikely, with the 21-year-old Brazilian currently out with an ankle problem.

Pedro has been a big hit at Watford and has wowed Hornets boss Slaven Bilic in the 2022/23 campaign, with Croatian suggesting the forward is “on another level” (BBC Sport, 12 January).
Needed
A new addition simply has to come through the door at Goodison Park. Pedro would be a more astute signing than Arnautovic, with the Watford striker likely to have some sell-on value if he does move to Merseyside.
At present, completing transfer business looks extremely difficult for the board with there currently no manager in place to attract players to the club. However, this is a situation the decision-makers at Everton have caused themselves.

There should’ve been a realisation that Frank Lampard’s job was in a precarious position and more planning should have gone on to ensure his successor was appointed quickly. Furthermore, they should have relieved the 44-year-old of his duties far sooner. Performances had dropped off a cliff and it was abundantly clear a fresh approach was required.
With five days left of the January window, it’s crucial at least two players come through the door to give the fans and the club a bit of a boost.
