Marcelo Bielsa will be deeply suspicious of Farhad Moshiri as Everton manager talks continue

Sky Sports South American expert Tim Vickery believes Marcelo Bielsa will be “deeply suspicious” of Farhad Moshiri already as Everton manager talks continue.

The Daily Mail reported on 26 January that Bielsa is in London for talks over becoming Everton manager, highlighting his current frontrunner status for the job.

Vickery believes, however, that Bielsa will still need to be convinced of the project by Moshiri and admitted the Argentine has never done anything like this before.

“He’s never done anything like this before,” said Vickery speaking to Sky Sports. (26 January, 12:26 PM)

“Now, the fact Everton are looking for a coach now he will not be impressed by this at all, one of my favourite Bielsa quotes he was said, ‘You have got to look at the club’s president, with the eyes of this is the one who one day is going to sack me.’

“He’ll have seen how many coaches Everton have chewed up and spat out and that will mean he will be deeply suspicious of the people running the club.”

Can’t blame him.

Appointing the next Everton manager is going to be a tough ask and there is no way of glossing over the cracks that have evidently formed within the club this season.

It’s a massive job that needs a huge character to come in and change things around, something that Bielsa undoubtedly possesses.

Who better to get the Goodison Park fans back on the side than the swashbuckling lunatic that is Bielsa?

He will get this Toffees team to play football again and his never-say-die attitude could actually be the perfect remedy to save the club from relegation.

Some fans may prefer a stop-gap managerial appointment like Sean Dyche but by going down the Bielsa route the club would be trying something completely different.

And maybe just maybe that is what Everton needs right now, a force of nature to take the bull by the horns and catapult the team up the Premier League table.
