Everton now set to appoint Sean Dyche within hours on Friday – Sky Sports

Sean Dyche is expected to be made the next manager of Everton on Friday (27 January), according to Sky Sports (transfer live blog, 27 January, 9 am).

The Toffees are in the process of appointing their next manager following the sacking of Frank Lampard, and they have decided to appoint the former Burnley manager.

Both Dyche and Marcelo Bielsa held talks with the club on Thursday (26 January), and it appears that Dyche has won the race to become the next manager.

“Sean Dyche is expected to be appointed Everton manager today,” reports Sky Sports (27 January).

“Dyche and Marcelo Bielsa both held talks with the club yesterday, but it appears the former Burnley boss has won the race to succeed Frank Lampard at Goodison Park.”

Great appointment

Dyche would be a very good appointment for the Toffees considering the circumstances.

He has got loads of Premier League experience and should be an ideal candidate to steer the club away from relegation.

Dyche is also the kind of manager who can operate on a shoestring budget so he is expected to get the best out of this squad.

The likes of Dwight McNeil are expected to flourish under his management at the club.

There can be reservations about his style of football, but that is secondary now. The club’s primary task is to get some points on board and avoid the drop.

The next step will be to build on it.

The most important decision for Dyche at the moment will be to bring in some new players at the club, and he has only a few days left in the winter market to do it.

He needs to make a decision on Anthony Gordon as well. Gordon has made it clear that he doesn’t want to return to training and wants a move this month, but Dyche could look to persuade him to stay put.
