Everton interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tete

Everton are interested in Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian winger Tete as the Toffees look to land the 22-year-old before Tuesday’s deadline, according to Alex Crook.

The Merseyside club are desperately on the lookout for another winger after missing out on Arnaut Danjuma, despite the Dutchman completing his media duties at Goodison Park ahead of his loan move from Villarreal.

It appears a wide man is still on the agenda and talkSPORT reporter Crook has revealed (via Twitter, 27 January) they’re looking to sign Tete, who is currently on loan at Lyon.

“Understand Leicester and Everton are both interested in signing Lyon winger Tete. Not sure that’s the case with Leeds at this stage,” wrote Crook.

The 22-year-old currently has eleven goals and assists for the Ligue 1 side in the 2022/23 campaign.

In-demand

Tete appears to be a man in demand and this looks like a tough move for the Toffees to pull off at the moment. The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano (via Twitter, 27 January) has revealed Leicester are in “advanced talks” with the Brazilian.

The Foxes look to be pushing ahead with a move for Tete and some quick thinking may be needed if Everton want to hijack Leicester’s move. With Sean Dyche set to take the reins at Everton (Sky Sports, 27 January), fans will be hoping for some transfer business to be completed over the weekend.

Everton

The Toffees aren’t in action until 4 January, which could allow for the new boss to get one or two new additions through the door before the window closes.

Everton’s current squad desperately needs freshening up, with attacking additions an absolute priority for Dyche when he is officially announced as the club’s new manager. The former Burnley boss has certainly got a hell of a job on his hands.
