Sean Dyche eager for Everton moves before Tuesday, club to now move fast in wake of Anthony Gordon exit to Newcastle
Everton will now look to “move quickly” to sign an attacker in the final days of the transfer window following Anthony Gordon’s exit to Newcastle, the Daily Mail reports.
Sean Dyche is reportedly “eager” to make improvements to his Toffees squad in the short time left available before the deadline.
And after the departure of 21-year-old Gordon to St James’ park was officially announced on Sunday afternoon (29 January), the club are expected to react fast.
The Mail report from earlier on Sunday morning stated that if the Everton academy product was allowed to leave the club “will aim to move quickly to bring in another attacker”.
With the first part of that equation now confirmed it is down to the Toffees to secure the attacking arrival that the incoming manager wants.
Get moving
It is shaping up to be an almost identical situation to a year ago when Frank Lampard was finally appointed with the final hours of January left to make a quick grab for Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli.
Supporters will have to hope that whoever is sourced in the last couple of days for Dyche has a greater impact at Goodison Park than the pair of midfielders.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is currently fit to at least allow the new boss to utilise the one attacking star left in the squad, but even though Gordon wasn’t producing anywhere near his best of late his exit undoubtedly weakens the available options.

Dyche may have an eye on rejuvenating Dwight McNeil to the level he was in previous seasons under the former Burnley boss at Turf Moor, as opposed to the one who produced just a single assist for him last term, and who has struggled to have an impact since arriving on Merseyside.
Ellis Simms is currently in the building having been brought back from his loan at Sunderland but can’t be expected to shoulder the entire load up front of Calvert-Lewin goes down.
So an attacker in the final days seems like a must if Dyche is going to have a chance of seeing his score more goals than Frank Lampard did in his final few weeks in charge.
