Sunderland want to sign Joe Anderson, ‘bargain’ Everton exit on the cards before transfer deadline
Sunderland are trying to do a deal with Everton for 21-year defender Joe Anderson, according to newspaper journalist Alan Nixon.
Nixon has suggested via his personal Patreon (29 January) that the Toffees defender could be sold at a “bargain” price to the Black Cats.
It’s understood the North East side are trying to add some cover in defence, with Bailey Wright potentially departing before the window closes.

Let him go
Anderson is now 21 and at an age where he needs to be playing regular first-team football. Considering the Toffees’ current league position, it’s extremely unlikely he will see any first-team football in the second half of the season, and if Sunderland are pushing for a permanent deal, the Toffees should look to do business.
Everton are well-stocked in terms of numbers at the back, with James Tarkowski and Conor Coady the go-to partnership.

Michael Keane’s future is certainly up in the air at the moment and The Mail on Sunday have claimed (print edition, pg. 108, 29 January) that Udinese centre-back Rodrigo Becao is still on the Toffees’ radar as the window edges closer to its conclusion.
Sean Dyche is set to take the reins at Goodison Park and to say he has a hell of a job on his hands is an understatement. He simply has to add players in the next couple of days to get this squad into some sort of shape heading into the second half of the season.
Let’s hope the incoming fee for Anthony Gordon can go some way in helping the former Burnley boss.
