Everton spending spree on the cards as Sky Sports journalist shares £45m update after Sean Dyche appointment

Everton could be very busy in the final few hours of the transfer window as there is “money available” to sign new players, according to Sky Sports News journalist Vinny O’Connor.

The Toffees have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as their next manager. He has become the seventh permanent manager hired by the club owner Farhad Moshiri since he took over the club nearly seven years ago.

The Toffees have raised around £45m from the sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle, and some of the funds can be utilized in the January transfer window.

“I think there will be money available given it was raised from the £45m sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle. Some of that can be utilised in what remains of the transfer window,” said O’Connor on Sky Sports, as relayed by Sky Sports transfer live blog (30 January, 2.24 pm).

“Don’t forget that Kevin Thelwell, the director of football here, would’ve had a list of players and over the weekend he will have worked in tandem with Sean Dyche to identify the best options which suit the way he wants Everton to play in the coming weeks.”

Reinforcement

It will be interesting to see how Dyche approaches the transfer window, although the Toffees are running out of time to sign new players.

Kevin Thelwell definitely has consulted with Dyche in the past few days about signing players, and they have to act now to land their targets at Goodison Park.

It is a fresh new beginning, and Dyche’s style is different from that of Frank Lampard.

The general feeling among the fans is that the club need to sign a new striker and bolster the attacking department.

Dyche may have other ideas. He could probably feel that the Toffees to sign a quality box-to-box midfielder who can add goals to the side.

There is definitely money to spend, and Dyche will have to get his signings spot on.

The January window is not an ideal time to sign new players, but Everton are in a relegation battle, and they need reinforcement.

The next 36 hours or so will get very interesting.
