Everton submit £40m+ bid to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea – Fabrizio Romano

Everton have submitted a £40m plus add-ons bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to The Guardians’ Fabrizio Romano.

It’s understood Chelsea will make a decision soon with other clubs also interested in the 22-year-old England international.

Romano has also revealed (via Twitter, 30 January) that the former Crystal Palace loanee also has to make a decision on where he wants to make his next move.

“Everton have submitted a bid to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea. It’s a £40m proposal plus £5m add-ons,” wrote Romano.

“Chelsea will make a decision soon as there are also other clubs interested in Gallagher — and the player has to decide his future too.”

Get it done

Well, it’s abundantly clear where the Anthony Gordon money has gone. Gallagher has endured a tough season at Stamford Bridge and a move away from West London could potentially be a good move for the 22-year-old midfielder.

He’s proven himself to be a top-class performer in the past whilst at Selhurst Park and there’s no reason why he won’t go on to be successful if he moves to Merseyside. Everton need players who will fight and work hard and Gallagher would certainly provide that.

Everton

The 22-year-old is a player who can turn defence into attack very quickly and would provide an immediate upgrade on the Toffees options at present.

It’s positive to see the club put the Gordon transfer fee to use immediately, however, they didn’t have much choice considering their league position ad the feeling surrounding Goodison Park at the moment. Attacking additions are clearly a priority with DHnet (30 January) reporting that Borussia Dortmund winger Thorgan Hazard is also a target.
