Everton have £22m bid accepted by Rennes for Kamaldeen Sulemana

Everton have had a £22m bid accepted for Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana for a deadline-busting transfer, but they must still compete with Southampton.

The Toffees are in the market for attacking options ahead of the deadline tonight after finally confirming Sean Dyche as the new manager, having sold Anthony Gordon to Newcastle in a £45m deal over the weekend.

And the club have now moved for Ghana international Sulemana as his replacement, and according to the Daily Mail (31 January) they have found an agreement with the Ligue 1 club for a £22m deal.

They state that both Everton and Southampton have had a bid accepted for £22m, and the player will now choose between the clubs before making his move on deadline day.

Boom

Everton will have a hard time convincing players to join the club this season based on their position and problems, but the fact Southampton are in a position that is just as bad is helpful.

A new manager coming in is also likely to be a boost, because the new player will know he was a priority target considering the time left in the window and the fact we made a move.

Everton

Sulemana is a hugely talented player, capable of playing on both wings and with a keen eye for goal and a creative pass, which is exactly what Everton need.

But bringing him in alone won’t be enough considering we were desperate for additions even before Gordon was sold, so the club must be super busy on Tuesday to ensure business is done.

Sulemana would be a good start, but having a bid accepted isn’t the same as getting a deal done, so Kevin Thelwell and co must be on their A game otherwise relegation becomes even more of a possibility.
