Everton in transfer battle to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Dennis Geiger

Everton are reportedly in a transfer battle to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Dennis Geiger amid his current contractual situation.

According to Kicker [8 February], Eintracht Frankfurt and Benfica are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old who’s been at one club throughout his career.

He is now free to discuss terms over a free transfer with foreign clubs as his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Good option

Geiger’s been on the radar for a while and there’s a good chance to sign him now that he’ll be available for free.

However, before thinking of players for next season, Everton need to first focus on avoiding relegation as all bets are off the table if they fail to do so.

The Toffees have plenty of areas to address under the new manager and Geiger certainly seems a perfect fit for Sean Dyche’s side.

He’s combative, got a decent engine on him and has the ability to pick out a pass from deep, making him the long-term Idrissa Gueye replacement

However, they have other teams also waiting to secure his services and it remains to be seen which side ends up getting their hands on him.

He will definitely be a man in demand given his qualities and we will not be surprised if more teams come in for him in the summer.
