Injury expert shares Everton injury update ahead of Premier League clash v Leeds United

Everton are set to be without two players for their huge Premier League clash against Leeds United on Saturday, according to injury expert Ben Dinnery.

Nathan Patterson is back on grass after his injury layoff but Dinnery doesn’t anticipate the Scotland international to return until the start of March (Premier Injuries website). Andros Townsend is also out of action with a long-term knee injury.

However, James Garner could well return to action after spending time sidelined with a back problem, however, Dinnery rates the midfielder’s chances of playing at just “25 per cent”.

It’s a similar story for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who missed the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool with a hamstring problem. Dinnery has also rated the England international’s chances of playing at “25 per cent”.

Back to reality

The game against Liverpool was somewhat of a reality check. There was a justified feeling that Everton could go to Anfield and pick up a positive result. However, perhaps the Reds’ poor form and the Toffees’ win over Arsenal were blown out of proportion.

Jurgen Klopp’s squas is filled with quality and were ultimately a step too far for Sean Dyche’s men. However, if the Blues hadn’t beaten Arsenal, there would’ve been no expectation for them to go to Anfield and pick up a positive result.

Everton

This weekend’s fixture is absolutely massive. Leeds are currently managerless and in a bad situation themselves, having been beaten by Manchester United in their last fixture. The Yorkshire side currently reside just one place above the Toffees having played the same amount of games, meaning a win for either team could be season-defining.

Dyche could well be heading into the fixture without Calvert-Lewin, and former Sunderland loanee Ellis Simms could well be tasked with leading the line once again at Goodison Park.
