Jahm Najafi could now bid for Everton takeover as £3.1bn Tottenham offer rejected
Jahm Najafi’s £3.1billion bid for Tottenham Hotspur will not meet Joe Lewis’ asking price – and that could lead the Iranian-American to submit an offer for Everton.
The Daily Mail claim (print edition, back page, 16 February) Lewis values Spurs at £4billion – £4.5billion despite Daniel Levy being open to offers.
Najafi could now turn his attention elsewhere and has explored investing in the Toffees. This latest setback could potentially see Everton become his main focus, with Farhad Moshiri desperate to sell for a snippet of the price of Spurs.

New investment is certainly required on Merseyside and would be welcomed by Evertonians, but whether now is the right time is a question which needs to be asked.
It’s really hard to envisage Everton being sold in their current Premier League position. There are serious concerns over whether they will be in the top flight next season, and with the new stadium also on the way, any new buyer would ideally want to be purchasing a top-flight club.

Getting to the summer and then evaluating the situation would seem like the most sensible decision for Moshiri to take. We all know the Iranian businessman wants out of Goodison Park, but due to the uncertainty at the moment, a sale is proving hard to muster.
The Guardian claimed (25 January) the British-Iranian is looking for £500million for the club to recoup the investment he has put into Everton and their new home.
At present, the last thing Sean Dyche needs is fresh takeover talks to impact upon his more immediate focus of keeping the club in the Premier League.
