Sean Dyche must axe Everton defender Conor Coady v Leeds United after rapid decline in form

Everton will have to win against Leeds United at Goodison Park on Saturday (18 February) in the Premier League and Sean Dyche will have to make some bold decisions.

The new Toffees boss should drop Conor Coady and break his defensive partnership with James Tarkowski. Since returning from the World Cup, Coady has seen a rapid decline in form.

Apart from the game against Arsenal, he has been bang average in the past few months, and he was shockingly poor against Liverpool in the previous game.

His performances against Leicester City, Brighton, Bournemouth, and Southampton will tell you that he has been playing below par to his potential.

It appears that he is relying on Tarkowski to take the risks while he is playing safe at the back. It is clearly visible that he has suffered a dip in form, and probably lacking in a bit of confidence as well. He should be dropped for this huge game.

Everton do not have a shortage of defenders, but in this case, Dyche must bring Yerry Mina back into the side.

The 28-year-old has got a frustrating injury record, and he can’t even stay fit for two or three games in a row. But he is fit now, and this fixture is perfect for him.

The Colombian is a fantastic defender who has got a commanding presence at the back. Dyche can use him alongside Ben Godfrey.

There is also another advantage of using Mina. As we have seen, the Toffees are struggling to score, and Dyche is mainly looking to exploit set-piece threats. In such a scenario, Mina can be a very handy option, certainly better than Coady.

This is a must-win game for the Toffees, and Dyche must get his selection spot on. Mina hasn’t played much this season, and could be a secret weapon for Dyche.
