Everton to surely sign Ryan Fraser after Wednesday development at Newcastle United

Ryan Fraser has been exiled from Newcastle United’s plans – and this could open the door for Everton to line up a summer swoop for the winger.

The Daily Mail report (22 February) that the 28-year-old has been moved to the Magpies’ under-21s set-up and is unlikely to be involved again in the first team.

It’s also understood that Newcastle see his future away from St James’ Park and that he is “expected” to move on in the summer transfer window.

This news could allow for Everton to land a cut-price move for the winger, who has seen his first-team chances dissipate in recent years.

90min claimed (28 February) the former Bournemouth man was being monitored by the Toffees towards the end of the January window, and that Sean Dyche had earmarked a move before he was announced as the manager at Goodison Park.

This is certainly a move which could now happen in the summer if Everton want. He knows the Premier League well and is a hard-working player who could suit the way Dyche wants to operate at Goodison Park.

However, at present, Everton’s focus will be away from their summer transfer business. They need to ensure their Premier League status before looking ahead to next season.

This weekend’s home fixture against Aston Villa presents another golden opportunity for the Toffees to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three.

Villa are coming off three defeats in a row and the pressure has started to grow on Unai Emery for the first time since his arrival at Villa Park.
