Injury expert shares Aston Villa injury update ahead of Everton Premier League clash

Aston Villa are set to be without Jed Steer and Diego Carlos for their Premier League fixture against Everton on Saturday, according to injury expert, Ben Dinnery.

Carlos is recovering from a long-term Achilles injury which he suffered in his second game for the Villans after his big-money move from Sevilla. The 29-year-old is on the road to recovery, but Dinnery doesn’t expect the Brazilian to return until 4 March (Premier Injuries website).

Steer is a longer-term absentee from Emery’s squad, however, fellow keeper Robin Olsen could well return to the Villa squad.

Whenever Everton play at home from now until the end of the season they simply have to be looking to secure all three points. Their away form has been a consistent hindrance all campaign and it cannot be relied upon. Villa will be a tougher test than Leeds, although the West Midlands side don’t have too much to play for.

They’re comfortably in mid-table and should have more than enough to avoid a relegation battle come the end of the season. This could play into Everton’s hands, with their motivation potentially far lower than the Toffees’ at present.

With West Ham also losing at the weekend, there’s a golden opportunity for Everton put some more distance between themselves and the bottom three against Villa.

Nathan Patterson and James Garner could both be available for Sean Dyche, in what will be a big injury boost for the Everton boss. Let’s hope for a repeat performance and another vital three points to continue Dyche’s impressive start to life on Merseyside.
